Geometry in Construction
Hey! My name is Madison Driscoll and I am 15 years old. I love playing basketball and I have been playing since 5th grade and I am on the basketball team here at Loveland High. I get good grades and I love food. I love doing outside activities like snowboarding and wakeboarding. I like to sleep and watch Criminal Minds and Duck Dynasty. I like to play all sports for fun but not for competition. My favorite animal is a Zebra. I have two dogs named Buddy and Hanes. Buddy is a black lab and Hanes is a yellow lab. I really enjoy doing hands on activities so that is why I took construction. I am also a very friendly person so taking geometry in construction I have made lots of new friends.
I have learned many lessons while in this program on both the math side and the construction side. In math I learned so much like how to solve system of equations in many different ways, how to graph a line and write the equation of a line, how to graph a parabola, how to find angles, how to find volume, perimeter, surface area and area, how to find slope and much more. One of the lessons that I really enjoyed was the trigonometry lesson because I thought it was fun. Durning this lesson we learned how to find the distance of one of the sides of a triangle given one other side length and the angle. We also learned how to find the angle of the triangle given two or more of the lengths. I will use this when i take trigonometry later on in high school and if I pursue an engineering or construction career or for understanding other sciences or architecture. Another lesson we learned about was algebra and how to solve algebraic equations. This is a lesson that I could use in everyday life and not even notice it. When your filling your car up with gas or really almost every time you buy something.
Robert and Carrie,
